Yanesen, Hasselblad, Kodak Portra 160NC

Three pitchas I took on the day we went to Yanesen (Yanaka, Nezu, Sendagi). The first was taken from the bridge overlooking the train tracks at Nippori Station and the other 2 are of nowhere of any special interest but it was a quiet neighbourhood where we spotted some handicrafts being sold from peoples homes – that sort of thing. It was nice.

Yanesen (Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi)

We strolled from Nippori Station past the cemetery and towards Yanaka Ginza which we thought was a bit of a tourist trap. We sampled some of the street food on offer which was ok.

We turned left at the end of Yanaka Ginza a stopped at Yanesen AZ Cafe which we though was very nice. Despite the coffee not being particularly great and the cake being a bit stale we enjoyed ourselves here. The staff were nice and it was comfortable.

After Nezu Shrine we wandered back to the station via some of the back streets where we found some little cafes, bars and restaurants. I shot a roll of film at this point but we suffered a camera malfunction. A bit disappointing as we had some nice light – it was during golden hour.

We liked this area and we decided we’ll definitely explore it further when we return to Japan.

We stopped for Ramen in Takadanobaba on our way home because we liked the sound of “Takadanobaba”.
