Yanesen (Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi)
We strolled from Nippori Station past the cemetery and towards Yanaka Ginza which we thought was a bit of a tourist trap. We sampled some of the street food on offer which was ok.
We turned left at the end of Yanaka Ginza a stopped at Yanesen AZ Cafe which we though was very nice. Despite the coffee not being particularly great and the cake being a bit stale we enjoyed ourselves here. The staff were nice and it was comfortable.
After Nezu Shrine we wandered back to the station via some of the back streets where we found some little cafes, bars and restaurants. I shot a roll of film at this point but we suffered a camera malfunction. A bit disappointing as we had some nice light – it was during golden hour.
We liked this area and we decided we’ll definitely explore it further when we return to Japan.
We stopped for Ramen in Takadanobaba on our way home because we liked the sound of “Takadanobaba”.

We headed down to Shibuya to watch lots of people crossing the road at a famous looking crossing. After that we wandered around stumbled upon this ramen restaurant which turned out to be a real winner, so much so that I made a famous special post all about it.

Some of the things we saw as we strolled from our flat to Shinjuku station on our way to somewhere nice.
Sometimes I like to just keep it simple – grab a compact and shoot away as I’m walking.

We left Shimokitazawa with a plan to go to Yoyogi Park and visit Meiji Jungu. The journey took a while longer than we anticipated so we decided to walk part of the way and then walk around Yoyogi Park for a while and leave Meiji Jungu until the next day.
We found some cherry blossoms but there were lots of people engaged in the act of selfie taking and it was getting a bit dark so I didn’t get many frames of the chezzer blossoms. Emily had more luck than me.
