The day we found the nice market on Thanon Sangchuto we headed out to Prasat Mueang Sing Historical Park – we got waylaid due to a broken signal on the crossing but we enjoyed the scenery nonetheless.

We rented a motorbike and drove out to Prasat Mueang Singh Historical Park, a temple complex built by the Khmers which is thought to be the Westernmost point of the former Khmer Empire.

To get there you head up Route 323 otherwise known as Thanon Sangchuto which you’ll pick up after you cross the bridge as you head North out of Kanchanaburi town. The road stretches from Ban Pong District in Ratchaburi Province all the way up to Three Pagodas Pass on the Thai/Myanmar border and is one of the prettiest in Thailand.

We’re great big fans of Thai sweets – especially the coconut ones. The little market pictured we found just off Route 323 on the way back with one stall having a very good and very delcious selection of Thai sweets was lots of fun.

Explore.

The village of Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi, (small Sai Yok waterfall) and the waterfall itself. The so-called “Death Railway” terminates here.

The journey from Kanchanaburi is a scenic one and worth taking for the views alone.

From out trip to Kanchanaburi in 2019. We did a day trip to Nam Tok. This is the same train that runs from Thonburi in Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. It’s basically a tourist train – any journey on it is 100 baht regardless of the length.

Most people make this journey to visit the waterfall (nam tok) but the tiny village of Nam Tok is quit nice to wander around. We found a little restaurant that was really just someone’s house with a table out the front.
