Breakfast in Shimokita – Mixture Bakery

Our first breakie in Japan. We stumbled on this lovely little cafe/bakery in Shimokitazawa called Mixture. The place was very cozy and the staff were friendly and it seemed to be popular with locals as we didn’t see any other gaijin/gweilos/farang/whities while we were there. The coffee was actually pretty terrible but the grub was good.

If you want to be like us and go there yourself, here’s the address: 3 Chome-31-5 Kitazawa, Setagaya-ku, Tōkyō-to 155-0031, Japan

Lost in Shimokitazawa

This is an entire roll taken on our first full day in Tokyo. I do so love uploading entire rolls so everyone can see how shabby my photography really is. For those of you who might be wondering – one roll of 120 film equals 12, 6×6 frames.

We moseyed on down to Shimokitazawa, a district that by all accounts is the epicentre of Tokyo hipsterdom. We found it very pleasant and not too try-hard. We arrived early morning on a Monday as the place was springing into life. A couple of hours later all the cool kids were there.

We wandered off into the ‘burbs and had some breakfast and then got completely lost which is always good fun and finally found ourselves back in the shopping district. Matty bought a dead stock army surplus jacket from a little shop called Hoochie Coochie. Nice one, Matty.
