We loved this little coffee shop on the historic Pakprak road in Kanchanaburi, located in one of the historic buildings there.
We chatted to the pleasant owner who told us that the building has been owned by his family for generations and used to be a convenience store and before that it was a shop that sold lacquer that was used in the boat-building industry. There was a boat yard located on a stretch of the river adjacent to the shop.
The coffee was good as was the service and we were given some tea that the owner had concocted from his own recipe which was delicious.
That cat in the pictures is Wela (เวลา), which means “time” in Thai. He belongs to a lady who lives nearby but comes to visit occasionally.

Kuaw Tong Coffee in Kanchanaburi – not a Western-style coffee shop this one – they’re definitely doing things their own way. We loved it here.
The friendly and chatty lady owner (whos name escapes me) gave us the rundown on the coffee situation in Thailand – growing, roasting etc. Interesting stuff..

Get into holiday mode ASAP. Hopping off the BTS and into this little indie coffee shop in Ratchathewi on the way to my hotel. Had a nice conversation with an elderly Thai gent who was vibing on my film cameras.
