Greedy Hong Kong

A property agency. The big numbers in red are what you have to pay. The small numbers in black are how much space you get.

After I’d taken the first picture I realised the man was dozing so I decided the risk of being yelled at by another petulant Hong Konger was reduced so i got a bit closer for another shot.

The man in picture is rethinking his life. Probably.

Swiss Cafe, Fuji Superia Venus 800

A few pitchas from Swiss Cafe, a cha chaan teng in Wan Chai. We visit this place quite often as Emily likes it. It’s quite popular and is fairly typical of this type of restaurant. Cha chaan tengs generally have pretty extensive menus of questionable foodses that get assembled a lightning speed and then practically thrown at you by low-level do-as-you-likeys. Swiss Cafe isn’t much different but we always seem to have quite a nice time here although the foodses (pitchad) on this particular occasion were pretty terrible.

Wan Chai Development, Kodak Portra 400

Another walk from Matty’s house to TST and another shot of the development at the harbour front in Wan Chai – also known as Wan Chai Development Phase II.

Despite having taken a few pitchas of this area I’m not particularly interested in building developments in Hong Kong. We have to walk through this area if we walk from our place to get the ferry to TST so I just snap pitchas as we walk through. I find architecture in Hong Kong uninspiring at best. The rents and lack of affordable housing and the fact the government seems uninterested in constructing anything that would
be in the interest of the general public is enough to make anyone feel glum about this kind of thing.

The third pitcha is of a community art installation near the Museum of Art which was quite nice.
